FILM ACTING CAMP
From 2013-2019, Verve offered an all-inclusive film acting camp that had two days of prep and three days of filming a micro-short film. Covid interrupted those camps and allowed us an opportunity to re-evaluate the program and find a way to make it even better in more of a real-world experience.
New in 2022, Verve Studios partnered with the Phoenix Film Festival and IFP/Phoenix on Film Acting Camp. Verve’s camp has always focused on the acting, with a little bit of filmmaking, to create a custom short film for the camps. IFP/Phoenix’s camp has always focused on the filmmaking process, with a little bit of acting, to create a custom short film with a full student crew and professional filmmaker supervision for the camps. 2022 brought these two camps together in a way that allows collaboration, expansion of the process, focus on specialties and real-world experience. 2023 will also offer this collaboration.
Some of the Verve past films are available for viewing on the Verve Studios' YouTube Channel.
Open to Young Actors:
• With some experience
• Brand new to acting
• Professional/represented actors
• Wanting to improve their craft
• Looking for creative expression opportunities
• Wanting to try Verve Studios/acting
• Unable to commit to weekly classes

Verve’s Film Acting campers will be learning about acting in film. This includes on-camera basics, character development, audition technique, improv for the camera, active listening, working with a partner, using your imagination and audition taping. Camp starts at 9 am and wraps at 2 pm each day. There is a lunch break; please bring a sack lunch. Microwave and refrigerator are available.
This year, Verve campers will audition for a real short film being produced in IFP/PHX's Advanced Filmmaking Camp for High School filmmakers. That is a two-week camp that is happening simultaneously.
We cannot guarantee that every actor in the Verve camp will be cast in a role in the IFP/PHX camp. Just like the real world, casting decisions will be made based on who best fits the role and there may not be the same number of roles as there are actors. But, IFP/PHX will only be selecting from Verve campers.
Verve Film Acting Camp runs July 8-12 from 9 am - 2 pm at Verve Studios. Actors selected for roles in the Advanced Filmmaking Camp film will be needed July 15-17.
IFP/PHX's Advanced Filmmaking Camp runs 2 weeks: July 8-19 from 9 am - 2 pm at the Phoenix Film Foundation with Screenwriting and Pre-Production July 8-12, Production (filming) July 15-17 and Post-Production July 18-19.
Screening of the Advanced Filmmaking Camp's film is TBD.
